Walk with us in Pest-Buda
A fresh spring stroll as a laid-back festival visit? Yes, this year new genres have been added to the offer of BTF, including #sétálaváros (#thecitywalks), which invites you to explore Budapest’s districts, strolling romantically, looking around and learning. Now we look at what Budafok-Tétény, Újpalota and Óbuda have to offer.
We invite you to explore a very diverse district, ’Twenty-two’. Budafok has a stunning atmosphere; as you get off the tram at Town Hall Square, some inexplicable, slightly nostalgic anticipation gets hold of you. A particularly fascinating chapter in the history of Budafok and Tétény is represented by the former cave and cellar dwellings, A particularly fascinating chapter in the history of Budafok and Tétény is
represented by the former cave and cellar dwellings, which will be revealed as part of the Pincejárat Cellar Tour on 7 May. You can visit the widowed Mrs Győzőné Tóth’s flat, including the kitchen and the tenants’ apartment in the exhibition, which will be accompanied by a craft workshop and a concert.
This walking experience can be exciting with children, so we are inviting you to take a story tour in the forest of Újpalota the following morning. It is a real family activity: a hike and some storytelling in the wood, while cleaning the trail together. At the last station, children can watch the story of a stubborn baby elephant, performed by the Marica Puppet show.
We think Óbuda is worth a whole day, and once we are participating in a walking marathon, you are welcome to enter it! Discover the past, present and hidden secrets of District III in eight exciting, themed tours through castle gardens,
gasworks, churches, monasteries and the place where Sindbad had spritzer regularly and get an insight into the life of the Jewish artisans of Óbuda. For a taste of this unforgettable district, join us on 1 May as the Esernyős (Umbrella) will walk together all day and #sétálaváros (#thecitywalks) will add even more locations.
